Breaking News Concerning Year End Awards

Effective immediately for the 2007 competition season, the MCTA is changing the way you submit your points for Year End awards. You as a rider now will compile your results on the new Point Form, a single sheet of paper, one line for each event. Don’t worry if you have already used the old forms and sent those in. They will still be tabulated. Going forward, compile your results on the new single sheet Points Form. This sheet can be sent in after the spring season, and a second sheet for summer and fall competitions at the year end – before the December 1 deadline. We will post the standings on the website after the Spring results are entered. You do not have to have anything signed at the event. USEA recognized events can be submitted by attaching the compiled results available from that organization. On the USEA form, please highlight the eligible results so it is easy for our point’s person to find the events that give you credit toward year end awards. Although most results are published and can be verified, the MCTA trusts that its members will be honest and truthful when submitting points for year end awards. Any member found to submit fraudulent results will forfeit their rite to a year end award. Remember, you are eligible for the Triumph Award for completing three events. SO even if you did not place for points, if you did not get eliminated it counts!! Send in the info on the same form.

Another BIG change is that the rider will now choose the award for which he/she is submitting points.  Also available on the website is a form that needs to be submitted by Dec 1 with the award choices. It really is not complicated!! Read the award descriptions and choose the ONE RIDER award and the ONE HORSE for which you are submitting your points.

Finally, Karen and Steve Fulton of Full Moon Farm, have donated 3 NEW YEAR END AWARDS. One for a Beginner Novice Rider of the Year (Jr or Sr). One for the Beginner Novice Horse of the Year. One for the Rider of the Year - Below the BN level – Jr or Sr rider at Baby Beginner, Starter and Elementary levels!!

All members who volunteer 8 hours for our club will be eligible for Year End Trophies and great prizes! SO ride, compete, volunteer and send in your points – see you at the banquet to pick up your rewards!

PLEASE NOTE: All riders who participate in USEA events held in Maryland at the Training Level are eligible to win The Equiery Bowl. Training Riders still pick a rider award and a horse award and send in the selection form with your competition record. When points are calculated at the end of the year any rider who has points that meet the Equiery Bowl criteria will be automatically entered in the running for that award. Since this award is sponsored by The Equiery magazine, this award is different than all the MCTA member-sponsored awards.

Also, ALL riders at any level who complete three events are eligible for the TRIUMPH AWARD. Send in your Competition Record, even if you don’t have a placing (First through Sixth) that gives you points, it still counts!!
