Jumper Derby at the Marlborough Horse Trials

The Marlborough Horse Trials is holding its 7th Annual Jumper Derby on March 17. Due to its huge success a second date has been added on April 7th. On both dates they will offer their Jumper Derby which combines cross country and stadium jumping obstacles with divisions at heights ranging from 18" - 3'3" as well as an opportunity to school their XC water complex. Riders may ride judged or not, and in pairs for fun to help a novice rider or horse. On April 7th, they will also be offering a Dressage fix-a-test.

Attention Eventers!

Both of our local dressage associations have added eventing tests to their schooling shows this year!

How many times have you missed out on a placing because of a bum dressage score? And since dressage really is the basis of all training (even if you’d rather not believe it) deficiencies in that area probably accounted for the glance-off at the skinny that ruined your otherwise perfect cross country and kept you from gathering your horse enough to avoid that rail in the triple that broke the tie against you too. But take heart: there’s GOOD NEWS for 2012!

You can now practice the all-important first phase at both Potomac Valley Dressage Association (Washington suburbs and Eastern Shore) and Maryland Dressage Association (north of Baltimore area) schooling shows JJJ

PVDA information will follow, but MDA will offer USEA Beginner Novice, Novice, and Training tests A and B at all its schooling shows this year in addition to the usual walk-trot through FEI tests. Depending on the facility, some of the eventing tests may be ridden in a large arena.
