GENERAL CRITERIA FOR ALL YEAR-END AWARDS
(excerpted from the MCTA Handbook)
1. Eight volunteer service hours provided to an MCTA sanctioned event are required.
2. The rider and, in the case of the Horse of the Year Trophies, the owner, of the horse must be an MCTA member in good standing at the time of the competition for which points are submitted, or those points will not be counted. "In good standing" means that dues have been paid in full for the calendar year. Points cannot be submitted retroactively for new members or former members whose membership has lapsed.
3. Points may be submitted only for Horse Trials and for Two- or Three-Day Events which have three distinct phases: dressage, endurance (cross-country), and stadium jumping. Placings at dressage shows or combined tests (consisting of dressage and stadium only) may NOT be counted.
4. Any one trophy may be won only TWICE by the same rider or, in the case of the Horse of the Year Trophies, the same horse. Note that the Federal Hill Trophy may be won only ONCE by any horse.
5. No rider may place in more than one RIDER category in the same year (i.e. the same person could not win both the Laubach and Sunrock Ridge Trophies or be reserve for the Highland Farms and second reserve for the *Denegri Trophies in the same year). Placings in one of the rider categories will not affect Horse of the Year status, however.
6. Except for the Horse of the Year Trophies, awards are based on rider placings so the same rider may submit points earned on multiple horses; the Horse of the Year Trophies are based on horse placings, so points may be submitted for the same horse when ridden by different riders and/or owned by various owners - as long as all riders and owners are MCTA members as specified above and the riders are in the same age group, i.e. Young Riders/ Juniors or Seniors, but not both.
7. Riders who complete, without being eliminated, all three phases of three events over the course of the season, will be eligible to receive a Triumph Award, even if no points/ placings have been earned.
